Want to be part of Discourse? 

You don’t have to be a published writer, experienced editor or social media expert to get involved with Discourse Magazine. 

Sometimes, you just need to be curious. 

Discourse is created by students, which means there are plenty of ways to contribute — whether you enjoy writing, editing, illustration, photography, design, social media, events or simply want to experience what happens behind the scenes of a literary magazine. 

What can volunteers do? 

Opportunities can change throughout the year depending on what the magazine is working on, but volunteers may help with areas such as: 

• writing and editing;  

• proofreading;  

• illustration and visual art;  

• photography;  

• social media content;  

• graphic design;  

• interviews;  

• website content;  

• events and promotion;  

• issue production;  

• brainstorming and creative projects.  

You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to do. 

If several areas interest you, that’s completely fine too. 

Never done this before? 

That’s okay. Ask questions; try things; learn from other volunteers - that is all part of the experience.
